postcard from j: we've got the blues!!!

I have no words to describe the feeling... it's slowly sinking in now. India has won the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 beating Pakistan by a narrow margin of 5 runs. Whoa!!! My company built the official website for the tournament (Yahoo! is the official internet partner of the ICC for this, and we're technical partners to Y!), so we've been slogging away for the past few weeks. Thankfully, the cricket has been really exciting. And we didn't mind staying up late or even spending the nights in office. I loved every minute of the whole experience. The tension was getting to all of us at the office while watching this mother of all battles. And when the final over was going on, everyone was getting hyper by the second. What if Misbah-ul-Haq had got a six? What if Sreesanth had dropped that catch? Ah! Let's leave that debate aside for now. It's a stupendous victory. Team India, you've done us proud! Take a bow, Mahi. Now watch my colleagues celebrating like ther

postcard from j: love junkie

One aspect of being an HR person is the number of emails I receive from people seeking job opportunities. Plus, there's a lot of internal communication from colleagues. And then as someone who believes in the power of networking and the whole "it's a small world after all" theory, my personal mail gets flooded too . Obviously, the amount of spam and junk mail that my inboxes are subjected to isn't funny. But what recently caught my eye is one such mail that got me smiling. Yeah, spam can make you smile. What did it say? I'm in hurry, but i still love you... (as you can see on the ecard) I mean... who cares about the source? A little love never hurt anyone, right? *wink*

Wooster tagged me to do this post almost a month ago, and even though I promised him and myself that I would blog about it, it took me so long to get going. But better late than never, right? Ok, just one slight change to this tag... I won't be tagging anyone at the moment because the ones who used to read this blog have disappeared (maybe aliens came by and took them away) and I won't ask random bloggers to get tagged! So, here are 8 random bits of trivia about myself: 1. I'm a staunch believer of the "small world" theory. That's why networking works for me. 2. I like to do stuff alone sometimes -- like shopping all by myself or sitting at a coffee shop and watching the world go by. 3. I love the feeling I get when holding hands with someone special. 4. I can't resist a good argument in Mumbai's local trains, especially in the ladies' compartment. Trust me, it's a super way to de-stress. 5. I cry when I get really really angry. Don't get
